Vinalopo Medio Inland

Vinalopó Medio is a region of Alicante province whose principal towns include Elda, Petrer,
Novelda and Monforte del Cid.

It is famous for its dessert grapes, which possess their own designation of origin.

Elda is the regional capital and its main tourist attractions are the Museo del Calzado (Footwear Museum) and the castle that looks over the town, dating from 12th-13th century.
Rest and leisure are guaranteed in this region and there are numerous outdoor activities on
offer such as walking, riding and golf. There are also excellent health facilities to be found at the
nearby Monforte del Cid spa whose medicinal waters have been awarded prizes at several
medical conferences.
The region is a short distance by road from Alicante and has excellent transport links with the
international airport of El Altet and the town of Elche. In addition, the most important road in the
province, which connects Castille and Madrid with Alicante, also runs through this area.
